Broadway Cityview Hosts Inspiring Resident Panel Event

At Broadway Cityview, we understand that choosing a senior living community is a major life decision. That’s why we recently hosted a Resident Panel event, giving prospective residents a unique opportunity to hear firsthand experiences from those who have already made the move. Attendees got to listen to inspiring personal journeys, learn about the transition process, and gain insight into why so many have chosen to call Broadway Cityview home.

A New Chapter in Independence: Loberta S’s Story

Loberta, an eight-month resident, shared her initial concerns about moving into a senior living community. “My granddaughter selected Broadway Cityview for me. I was worried I would lose my independence and my gardening, but it’s quite the opposite!” she explained. Loberta has found joy tending to the plants in the beautiful lobby outside the dining room. “I have adopted all of them. I know it’s silly, but I talk to them daily. I have named them Ennie, Meenie, and Minnie. In addition, I give them sweet milk baths. The dining room staff mix up my recipe for me and I wipe down every leaf. If you see someone talking to plants, that’s me!”

Finding Purpose: Dale H’s Journey

For Dale, also an eight-month resident, Broadway Cityview provided the perfect opportunity to regain a sense of purpose. “I was at a rough time in my life, and my family was concerned about my mental and physical health due to my isolation,” he shared. As a retired police officer, service is in Dale’s blood. “When I arrived, it took me a few weeks to settle in, but I quickly saw I could have a purpose here. I have started a chess club with the men, enjoy most of the exercise classes, and have become a resident ambassador! I am one of the youngest residents here and I have the privilege to help my neighbors. Best decision I ever made was moving to Broadway Cityview.”

A Life Filled with Music: Elizabeth B’s Experience

Music has always been a cornerstone of Elizabeth’s life, and moving to Broadway Cityview didn’t change that. “Home life was getting harder for myself and my husband, Winston. I was looking after him, keeping up the house, and working in the music ministry at my church,” she recounted. “Music is my life and so is my piano! We live in a lovely villa that seems to be made for us and my baby grand! I started a monthly hymn sing group and am happy I can still showcase my love for music.”

Creative Expression at Its Best: Gerald B’s Story

For Gerald, Broadway Cityview provided an ideal setting to continue his artistic journey. “I have a passion for art. There is an art gallery here at Broadway Cityview, and you will see much of my art showcased there,” he shared. Gerald now teaches art classes to his neighbors, encouraging them to explore their creative sides. “My wife, Kay, and I enjoy the social hours which are held on Tuesdays and Fridays. We have live entertainers and love to visit with the community residents. I tell everyone I get to meet when they are experiencing our community, there is so much to do here—be open to all new experiences.”

Keeping the Mind Engaged: Lynell B’s Passion

With a background in geriatric case management, Lynell brings her love for social engagement to Broadway Cityview. “I’m definitely social and enjoy playing games with others. I really enjoy Rummikub and Mahjong,” she said. Lynell has even taken the initiative to teach Mahjong classes, ensuring it’s now a staple on the community’s activity calendar. “My lovely two-bedroom apartment is perfect for my office, and I am still able to work from home part-time.”

Bringing New Traditions: Sylvia B’s Contribution

Sylvia Batha, a ten-month resident, embraced the move to Broadway Cityview with enthusiasm. “My daughter wanted me closer to her and my grandkids. I was living in Grand Prairie at a 55+ Active Adult Living community,” she explained. One of her favorite activities was chair volleyball, and she wasted no time introducing it to Broadway Cityview. “I turned Broadway Cityview on to this ‘sport,’ and within no time, they ordered the equipment! It’s now a weekly activity on Thursdays that is very well attended.”

An Event to Remember

The Resident Panel event was a heartwarming experience, demonstrating the many ways Broadway Cityview enriches the lives of its residents, both in independent living and assisted living. Each story highlighted the community’s dedication to providing a fulfilling and engaging lifestyle. Prospective residents left the event with a clearer vision of what life could be like in our vibrant community—one filled with purpose, friendships, and new experiences.
