Honoring Our Heroes: How Broadway Cityview Celebrates the Veterans Who Call Our Community Home

At Broadway Cityview, a senior living community offering independent living and assisted living, honoring the men and women who served our country is far more than a once-a-year gesture—it’s a heartfelt and ongoing commitment woven into the fabric of our community. Many of our residents are proud veterans whose stories, sacrifices, and service continue to inspire us each day. This month, we’re excited to highlight two powerful ways we celebrate and uplift these heroes: the creation of our new Honor Wall and the resident-led Broadway Bugle, a publication dedicated to telling veterans’ stories in their own words.

A New Honor Wall: A Place of Tribute, Reflection, and Gratitude

We are proud to announce that Broadway Cityview, located in Ft. Worth, TX is adding a brand-new Honor Wall, scheduled for completion in the following months. This permanent installation will pay tribute to the veterans who call our community home—those who bravely wore the uniform and dedicated their lives to protecting our freedoms.

The Honor Wall will serve as a gathering place, a moment of pause, and a reminder of the courage and character that lives within our halls. Everyone is welcome to stop by, take a look, and spend a quiet moment reflecting on the selflessness of our residents who served. It is our hope that this space becomes a meaningful cornerstone where families, friends, and neighbors can celebrate the strength and stories of those who stood for our country.

The Broadway Bugle: Resident-Led Storytelling That Brings History to Life

One of the most special aspects of Broadway Cityview is how residents support one another—lifting each other up, sharing wisdom, and keeping each other’s memories alive. Nowhere is that spirit stronger than in the Broadway Bugle, a monthly newsletter written and curated by fellow resident B. Gray.

With each edition, the Bugle shines a spotlight on the veterans of Broadway Cityview, capturing their experiences with dignity, curiosity, and heartfelt admiration.

Some of the recent veterans featured include:

  • K. Sherwin, former Lt. Colonel in the United States Air Force, who served in five fighter interceptor squadrons—a remarkable career marked by discipline, leadership, and unwavering dedication to the mission.
  • F. Holmes, former Major in the United States Air Force, who bravely completed 56 combat missions, exemplifying courage under pressure and an unbreakable commitment to protecting others.

These are only a handful of the extraordinary men and women whose stories fill the pages of the Broadway Bugle. Each feature reminds us that the freedoms we enjoy today were safeguarded by neighbors who now share meals, conversations, and community life with us. Through this newsletter, residents feel seen, celebrated, and deeply connected—not only to their fellow veterans but to the entire Broadway Cityview family.

A Community That Honors, Appreciates, and Remembers

At Broadway Cityview, we know that honoring veterans isn’t just about recognizing past service—it’s about embracing the full person, celebrating their life today, and ensuring their histories continue to be told.

Whether through the upcoming Honor Wall or the resident-powered storytelling of the Broadway Bugle, our community is committed to uplifting the voices and legacies of those who served. Their stories live here. Their courage lives here. And their neighbors stand proudly beside them.

To all our veterans, thank you. We are honored—every day—to call you members of our Broadway Cityview family.
